Product Description

Offering the industry’s highest power-to-weight ratio, this Bostitch brad nailer kit is easy on the arm but full of user-friendly features to simplify projects from trim work to paneling, staircase installation to crafts. While most pneumatic tools require several drops of oil daily for lubrication, this tool’s oil-free design means less downtime, no more post-job cleanup or nasty messes on stain-grade trim.

Weighing just 2.1 pounds, this tool packs an impressive 170 in./lbs. of driving power. The tool’s innovative magnesium frame offers more durability than you’d expect from a tool this light. It drives 18-gauge brads from 5/8 to 2 inches in length. (For a bit less power and weight, this tool has a smaller brother, the BT125K-2, which features 145 in./lbs. of torque and fires brads from 5/8 to 1/1/4 inches.) An ultra-quiet rear exhaust rotates 360 degrees, which is great for working in tight quarters or around corners and odd-shape workpieces where it’s difficult to dodge discharge.

Offering another big step forward in brad nailing, the tool’s open nose design offers complete access to the drive channel for fast jam clearing. And, an quick access depth adjustment enables quick changes on the fly. A scrupulously ergonomic design offers unsurpassed balance and accuracy. The tool responds to slight movements of the wrist like it knows where you want nail next. Comfortable for both right- and left-hand users, the handle features a molded rubber grip for an outstanding combination of comfort and durability.

A highly visible reload indicator lets you know when more fasteners are needed, and an exclusive magnetic strip holds fasteners in place for remarkably smooth loading operations--a handy feature for precarious ladder work. Best of all, the adjustable depth control combines with the protective no-mar tip to make precise countersinking a breeze. --Brian D. Olson

Great Gun

Review Date: March 21, 2006
Reviewer: Joel Hakes, Wisconsin
I was surprised to see all the negative reviews on this gun. I've had mine for about 6 months now. I've fired atleast 10k of bostich, porter cable and craftsman nails through it. Maybe I'm just lucky, but so far Ive never had a problem. counter sinks 2" brads into oak like it's cardboard. If mine ever breaks, I'll buy another one just like it.
Excellent tool

Reviewer: Erol, Fairfield, CT USA
This is an excellent gun. Its driving performance is comparable to my 16g Porter Cable nailer. This gun has a couple of nice-to-have's:
- It is oil free. So you don't have to remember when you oiled it last etc. and you do not leave oil marks on the wood.
- It is very light. It is half as ligh as the box of nails that comes with the kit! If you work overhead this is a great advantage.
- The air exhaust is in the back, where the hose connects. I like this design better than the "adjustable" exhausts on top of the tool. With those, you hold the gun in a different angle every once in a while and get the blow in you face or into the dust etc. With this gun the exhaust does not get in your way.
- The non maring tip is fairly small. This makes it easier to toe nail shelves into dados etc.

I am surprised with the negative comments of other reviewers. I am wondering if their bad luck was associated with loading. This gun needs the nails at the bottom of its holder. There are groves for the nail heads of different length nails. Perhaps if you load the nails in to the wrong grove it might cause jamming. I did not have any jamming problems so far. Also, I used porter cable brand nails. I did not have any issues. I am wondering if cheaper brand nails are the cause of some of the negaitive comments.

I am sorry for everyone who did not like this gun. I love it. I worked for me right out of the box.

Works fine for me

Bought one last weekend ... To date I have went through at least 200 nails putting together some plywood boxes that will ultimately be filing-type cabinets. I do not know what the other posters are referring to here when they say that it does not shoot 'true 2" brads'.. mine actually came with a box of 1000 2" brads with the nailer. Yes I did have misfires; when my air compressor decided to bail out on me and it was shooting with only 40psi! Tried on a new compressor and not 1 misfire. Yes it's loud, so is my air compressor, so is my tablesaw, so is my planer, etc. etc. If you are using power tools you should be wearing ear protection anyway.

To summarize: does the job, one of the few 18gauge nailers that fires 2" brads, and is not overpriced (there were comparable nailers at Harbor Freight that cost more!...I checked)

Get yerself one if you need it.

Great Brad Nailer

Extremely light, yet incredible power. No problem in mahogany or maple with 2" nails. Also, very little recoil and the jam clearing system seems to be the best. I have yet to jam the tool so I will let you all know.

I have been incredibly impressed with Bostitch's new finish nailer as well. These tools certainly seem to be a step above all other nailers on the market right now, and this is coming from a former loyal Senco customer. Be advised, I also looked at the DeWalt but the dealer told me that they are just importing these from China and that they do not hold up on the job, they are more for a homeowner.

Head of Class

I reviewed the ratings of this nailer from various sources including Amazon dot com. My choice to purchase this unit came from a friend who makes a good living with one. I found the fit and finish of the product to be above average. Some reviewers complained about the noise, but I couldn't here it above my compressor. One reviewer suggested than anyone using wood working equiptment should use muffs. He's right. As far as perfomance, this unit will fire a two inch brad thru any wood you care to nail. 18 ga brads are wirey and tend to follow grain and growth rings rather well, so extreme care with your fingers is absolutely necessary. Now this unit will double fire. It shouldn't but mine does. So I compensate by being careful. Overall, I would recommend this trim nailer to anyone as my friend did me. I am well pleased with it and I'm sure you will be to.

Product Description

The Bostich CPACK1 combo is created to get you started right away in the workshop, garage, or on the job site. This kit includes the SB-2IN1 -- a combination brad nailer and finish stapler, plus a 2 horsepower (peak) oil-free air compressor and plenty of 18-gauge brads and finish staples.

Brad nailer/stapler
The SB-2IN1 is a versatile nailer that drives both 18-gauge brads and narrow crown finish staples for a wide variety of practical uses. Its adjustable depth guide sets nails to the desired depths quickly and conveniently, and its tool-free adjustable exhaust directs exhaust away from you and your workpiece.

This powerful nailer has a magazine capacity of 100 brads or 100 staples; it accepts brads from 5/8-inch to 1-5/8-inches, and it takes 18-gauge staples from 1/2-inch to 1-1/2-inch. It operates at 70-100 psi, with a thread fitting type of 1/4-inch NPT. The kit comes complete with a 1/4-inch air fitting, 1,000 2-inch brad nails, 1,000 1-inch staples, hex wrench, an extra no-mar tip, oil, and a carrying case. This nailer is covered by a 7-year limited warranty.

Air compressor
The CAP60P-OF has a high-efficiency motor with a 2 horsepower peak output (1.5 hp running) and a 6-gallon tank capacity. It boasts a no-maintenance, oil-free pump and it produces 135 psi (max) -- 3.4 cfm at 40 psi, 2.1 cfm at 90 psi. The air compressor comes with a 16-piece accessory kit which includes a 25-foot coil hose with fittings, blow gun, safety tip, inflator nozzle, sports ball inflation needles, dual tire chuck, tire pressure gauge, and thread sealant tape. The compressor is covered by a one-year limited warranty. -- Cherie Priest

Choosing a Pneumatic Nailer
For small household jobs, an old-fashioned hammer is the perfect stand-by. But if you've got a bigger project on your to-do list, then a pneumatic power nailer could be your new best friend. Pneumatic nailers are a great alternative to traditionally powered nailers, because they're capable of providing more power -- and they operate with fewer moving parts, so a pneumatic nailer can take more abuse than its corded or battery-run cousins.

A Word on Air Compressors
All pneumatic tools require a steady supply of controlled, compressed air in order to work properly, and nailers are no exception. Bigger compressors with hardy motors and large tanks generate higher PSI levels and maintain them longer, so you'll probably want a piston-type, two-stage compressor to power your nailer. Smaller or single-stage models are fine for little projects, but if you need a pneumatic nailer, the odds are good that you're looking for some intense PSI and CFM ratings. Sometimes, a pneumatic nailer will come with its own compressor -- or it can be purchased as part of an air tool set.

How Pneumatic Nailers Work
Pneumatic nailers use compressed air power to cock and release the hammer. In order to fire a fastener, a valve opens to let air fill a cylinder -- which has a piston that's driven down hard and fast. This forces the nail out of the gun and into your workpiece. Then the piston recoils, and another nail is loaded.

Important Points to Consider
Check manufacturer's guidelines to find out what pressure (PSI) and volume (CFM) of air will give your pneumatic nailer the best results. Also, keep in mind that any restrictions on the air hose will diminish the tool's performance. Hoses that are very long, contain too much moisture, or are incorrectly sized will reduce air flow. This can prematurely wear out your tool and cause it to perform poorly.

General Features
Most models will feature a rubber nosepiece to prevent scuffing and marring of your workpieces, plus an exhaust system (rear or adjustable) to keep sawdust and debris out of your face and away from your project. Pneumatic nailers usually have an adjustable depth of drive, and depending on the model, they can accommodate nails up to 2-1/2 inches long, in a variety of different gauge sizes. With a powerful enough compressor behind them, they can shoot thousands of nails a day.
